Personalised
Curriculum

TILT Education delivers an inclusive, ambitious and inspiring curriculum that develops the whole child’s knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes. Our curriculum is designed to meet the diverse needs of our learners while maintaining high expectations for every pupil. It promotes independence, resilience and aspiration, ensuring that pupils are well prepared for their next stages of education, employment and adult life.

It is underpinned by a clear understanding of learners’ starting points, with careful assessment used to identify gaps in knowledge and inform personalised planning. This ensures that all pupils are supported to make strong progress from their individual baselines.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and coherently sequenced to enable clear progression in knowledge and skills across all subject areas. Ongoing curriculum development ensures that our provision remains flexible, responsive and closely aligned to the needs, interests and aspirations of our young people.

Careful planning ensures that pupils of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs, can successfully access learning, acquire new knowledge, practise key skills and make meaningful progress across a wide range of learning experiences.

Literacy, Numeracy and Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education form the foundations of our curriculum. English and Maths are embedded across subjects to reinforce core skills and allow pupils to apply learning in purposeful and relevant contexts. Weekly targeted interventions in these areas are timetabled to support pupils to make excellent progress.

Core academic subjects are taught in the mornings when pupils are most focused and ready to learn. In the afternoons, the curriculum becomes increasingly practical and experiential, including Enterprise, Art, Team Building, The John Muir Award, Physical Education, Outdoor Pursuits, Forest School, Catering and Horticulture. These experiences enrich learning and support pupils to develop confidence, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Our curriculum enables pupils to leave TILT Education with recognised qualifications and the knowledge, skills and personal attributes needed to progress successfully into further education, training or employment. Alongside academic achievement, there is a strong focus on developing social, emotional and mental health, interpersonal skills and positive behaviours for learning.
